Southern Leyte State University

 

The Southern Leyte State University's campus in San Juan recently launched the univeresity's Rubber Industry program in Southern Leyte.Its students, faculty and staff participated in the historic activity by planting 1000 rubber seedlings inside the campus. SLSU which is only six years old will launch similar techno-demo rubber farms in its campuses in IHinunanga, Sogod, Bontoc and Tomas Oppus for a total of 5000 trees. A budwood rubber tree garden will also be established at the university's Hinunangan campus to provide rubber planting materials for replanting.One hectare of fully grown rubber trees can earn its owner a whooping 8000 pesos a day or over 400,000 pesos a month
